With a witty yet dark sense of time and place and a fabulous conclusion, Be Prepared is a superb opener.Ī Sharp Thorn is an intriguing mystery and a wonderful example of how to write a short story that feels like a novel. The sense of menace as those present sing songs and perform skits around the ubiquitous camp fire builds gradually as it becomes increasingly clear that something terrible is going to happen. Having thoroughly enjoyed a couple of Abi Silver's excellent Burton and Lamb legal thrillers, this opening story set at a joint guide and scout camp in the early 80s might be a departure from that contemporary series but proves to be no less hard-hitting. ![]() After much deliberation, I've decided to briefly share my thoughts about each of the stories, in the order in which they appear in the anthology. It's always tricky when reviewing an anthology to know whether it's best to pick out a few choice stories that particularly stood out, to give a general overview of the collection without going into specific details about any of the titles or to say something about all of them. Music of the Night, expertly curated by Martin Edwards could be described as 'Now That's What I Call Crime Fiction' and while an eclectic mixtape of short stories, is definitely all thrillers and no fillers. ![]() Two of the greatest pleasures of love arguably perhaps two of the greatest necessities are music and literature so the theme of this most recent CWA anthology was a mouthwatering prospect.

The suona as used in China had a conical wooden body, similar to that of the gyaling horn used by the Tibetan ethnic group, both of which used a metal, usually a tubular brass or copper bocal to which a small double reed was affixed, and possessed a detachable metal bell at its end. The movie Song of the Phoenix casts the rise and fall of the popularity of suona in modern Chinese musical history. One of the most famous piece that uses suona as the leading instrument is called "Bai Niao Chao Feng" ( Chinese: 百鳥朝鳳 pinyin: Bǎiniǎocháofèng), or "Hundred Birds Worship the Phoenix". In Taiwan, it was an essential element of ritual music that accompanied Daoist performances of both auspicious and inauspicious rites, i.e., those for both the living and the dead. It was also common in the ritual music of Southeast China. Stephen Jones has written extensively on its use in ritual music of Shanxi. Such wind and percussion ensembles are called chuida ( Chinese: 吹打 pinyin: chuīdǎ Zhuyin Fuhao: ㄔㄨㄟ ㄉㄚˇ) or guchui ( Chinese: 鼓吹 pinyin: gǔchuì Zhuyin Fuhao: ㄍㄨˇ ㄔㄨㄟˋ this name refers to the suona itself in Taiwanese Hokkien). It is still being used, in combination with sheng mouth organs, gongs, drums, and sometimes other instruments in weddings and funeral processions. It was an important instrument in the folk music of northern China, particularly in provinces of Shandong and Henan, where it has long been used for festival and military purposes. It had a distinctively loud and high-pitched sound, and was used frequently in Chinese traditional music ensembles, particularly in those that perform outdoors. Suona appeared in China around the 3rd century. The Suona's basic design originated in ancient Iran, then called " Sorna". Especially since you could navigate outside the houses in House Flipper, to begin with. There is a lot of content added to customize a lawn, but the main tools and the ability to modify the outdoors is something I would have expected in the main game or as a free update. That being said, at $14.99, I feel as if the DLC here is a little overpriced. But you’ll find there is a lot more to get out of the Garden Flipper content than the few Apocalypse items. This isn’t the first DLC for the game, the Apocalypse content was first. You still get the flavor text in the emails, but by this point, you’re probably just clicking on them to get right to the problem and fix it. That isn’t to say they aren’t as fun as the main game. After that, though, they begin to get slightly more complicated. The missions in the DLC do follow the same progression as the main game and unlock the new tools one by one. It even has some physics to where the tree is being chopped down at. In fact, the ax tool is interesting as it requires you to hit the tree at the right spot. If you need to remove some trees, you can cut them down. Heck, you can even re-sod areas of the lawn if you want some grass back. Want a swing set and brick patio for a grille? Go ahead and build yourself one. Want to surround a pond with some bushes and roses? Done! Buy a plastic pond, dig a hole with a shovel, and fill it up with the hose. Utilizing a plethora of different flowers and trees to plant, you’ll find that you can create quite a stunning garden display. The DLC ramps up the amount that you can customize a home and truly make it a work of art. The area of affected grass is small in comparison to even that of a standard push mower, and it makes the task of cutting needlessly time-consuming. You’re expected to cut a yard’s worth of grass with just weed eater. This is where my first gripe comes into play as there is no lawnmower in the game. The tool-set gets new additions with a hose, a shovel, an ax, and a weed eater. You’ll need to do things from weeding, mowing, and some detailed landscaping. As with the main game, you’ll receive some jobs in your email box that will ask you to clean up the plots of land surrounding a client’s home, aka their yard. The content ramps up your cleaning and redecorating ways by giving you some outdoor tasks to complete. But have you ever wanted to expand your horizons? Maybe plant some beautiful floral scenery or deck out your backyard with the latest in lawn furniture? Well, you’re in luck as the Garden Flipper DLC is here for you. There is quite a bit of remodeling and cleaning to do in House Flipper. ![]() Now for the magical line of code to make this work, you will want to type this into your terminal, exactly the way it is below.
